Chuck Schumer and Donald Trump are squaring off in one final, major battle.

Everything is at stake.

And Chuck Schumer just waved the white flag of surrender to Trump in this major fight.

On January 5, Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will face Democrat challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in a pair of runoff elections.

Right now Republicans hold a 50 to 48 advantage, but if Democrats win both races and Joe Biden becomes President then a Vice President Kamala Harris could cast the tie-breaking vote to eliminate the filibuster, pack the Supreme Court and add new states creating multiple new Democrat Senate seats.

But after Democrat Senate challengers raised hundreds of millions of dollars and crashed and burned this November, the party’s optimism dissipated.

Despite Warnock and Ossoff each raising over $100 million, their campaigns are running low on money and with the constellation of GOP outside groups pummeling them with negative ads, the Democrat challengers are running out of money.

And in a sign of things to come, NBC reports Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is no longer meeting with donors to raise money as he believes Warnock and Ossoff will lose.

NBC News reported:

Outside Democrat groups and high-dollar donors spent big to try and help Democrats regain control of the Senate in the last election — pouring in hundreds of millions of dollars in the weeks leading up to November 3rd. Now, after the party performed poorly in down-ballot races, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is no longer meeting with donors, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Schumer is “pessimistic” about Warnock and Ossoff’s chances in Georgia next week and doesn’t want to ruin donor relationships, the source adds.

“This is absolutely not true and this anonymous ‘source’ has no idea what they’re talking about, and it’s really sad NBC published it. Schumer has diligently made calls and fundraised for both Georgia candidates and is optimistic about their chances in January,” Schumer’s spokesman Justin Goodman said in response, denying the NBC story.

If Republicans win just one of these runoff races that will mark three straight election cycles that the Democrats entered the year optimistic about their chances to seize power only to fall short.

2020 would be the party’s most embarrassing failure.

Democrat candidates raised historic sums of money and all the “experts” rated Democrats as overwhelming favorites to win back the Senate.

But the polls were wrong and Donald Trump drove record GOP turnout which blunted the Democrats’ chances to win an outright Senate majority.

Now even Chuck Schumer doubts the Democrats’ chances in their final bid to eliminate the GOP Senate majority.
